Luther Corporate Services together with Advantage Austria, and the Swiss Malaysian Chamber of Commerce would like to invite our members to join them for an engaging discussion on how to manage data protection effectively and compliantly.
In July 2024, the Malaysian Parliament passed a substantial reform of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), aligning it more closely with international standards and, in particular, with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The reform introduces new obligations for data controllers and processors and significantly expands existing requirements, affecting all businesses in Malaysia that handle any form of personal data.
During the seminar, they will provide a comprehensive overview of the reform and its implications for businesses operating in Malaysia. Discussion on practical steps to prepare for the new obligations and update existing privacy policies will also be covered.
In addition, explore the international aspects of data protection, including the differences between the PDPA and the GDPR, and how personal data should be transferred between businesses in Malaysia and foreign entities.
